This oil on canvas is a portrait of Hammouda Pacha Bey before the dress code reform, in traditional dress with a cashmere shawl and dagger in his right hand. Hammouda Pacha Bey, nicknamed the builder of modern Tunisia, was a qualified and military man and was known as a firm but fair ruler.
