Description:

This fragment came from the set of garments wore by the Castilian Prince Phillip in his burial at Villalcázar de Sirga (Palencia). The fragment is a very good example of the richness of the textile from al-Andalus. The textile has an inscription in Arabic that could be translated as “Glory to our Lord the Sultan”. This an early example of the interest in collecting important textiles, even before the important research made by Gómez-Moreno in the Royal Convent of the Huelgas (Burgos).
