Description:

Portrait of Abdülaziz (1830–1876). In 1861 he became Sultan. He was very interested in fostering a good relationship with European powers and to this end visited Paris, London and Vienna in 1867. Because of the uprisings in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Bulgaria, he was forced to abdicate on 30 May 1876.
