Description:

Portrait of Ferdinand I, King of Romania. After the death of King Carol I, Ferdinand (as the nephew of the deceased king) ascended to the throne. In 1916 he joined the entente and declared war against Austria and Germany. After World War I, Romania gained Transylvania, Bukowina and the Banat from Austria, and Bessarabia from Russia. Ferdinand died in Romania in 1927.
