Emperor Franz Joseph visited the Suez Canal on board the Austrian ship, Elisabeth. He reached the Egyptian port of Ismilia on 14 Nov 1869 and stayed in Egypt until the 26 Nov 1869. During this trip, he also visited Cairo and Alexandria.
