Description:

It is known that there were workshops producing glass vessels around Beykoz in Istanbul in the 19th century. The first glass workshop was founded by Mevlevi Dervish Mehmed Dede during the reign of Selim III (1789-1807). There were European glass craftsmen working in those workshops as well. Cups, bottles, jugs etc. made of colourful, colourless and opal glass were among Beykoz' productions. This Beykoz-produced gülabdan (a small flask for sprinkling rose water) is made of green glass, in the shape of an ewer. There are cut floral decoration on the body. There are yellow, brown, blue, green and pink flower motifs.
