Description:

Also known as the Treaty of Ksar Said, the Treaty of Bardo was signed by the Bey of Tunis and the French government on 12 May 1881. It consisted of two articles which established the French protectorate of Tunisia. The bey was henceforth required to give up all his powers over foreign affairs, defence and administrative reform to the French resident-general.
