Description:

In 1840, the Ministry of Post made an announcement describing the postal service, declaring it necessary in order to facilitate communication among people. The first regulations about the postal organisation were taken from French Law in 1840. Ottoman Postal Code included 44 specific headlines. In 1855 the first telegraph service and in 1909 the first telephone service were put into common use as a demonstration of modern communication. In order to improve the technology of the telegraph systems, Ottoman authorities imported well-known machines with trademarks such as Siemens & Halske and Western Electric. As a result of this technological improvement, Ottoman officials decided to establish a telegraph factory. Between 1869 and 1915, this factory produced many devices and accessories.
