Description:

It is known that there were workshops producing glass vessels around Beykoz in Istanbul in the 19th century. The first glass workshop was founded by Mevlevi Dervish Mehmed Dede during the reign of Selim III (1789-1807). There were European glass craftsmen working in those workshops as well. Cups, bottles, jugs etc. made of colourful, colourless and opal glass were among Beykoz' productions. This is a laledan made of dark blue opaline. On the body there are white vervain motives with green leaves. There are three circles with stars and crescents.
