Panel with a large bouquet
Le Bardo, Tunis, Tunisia
Musée National du Bardo
19th century
Ceramic
H. 158 cm, l. 87 cm
Qallaline
This polychromatic panel is decorated with an image of a bowl filled with pears, apples and other fruits, topped by a small vase with flowers such as carnations, tulips, sunflowers and daisies coming out of it, which are interlaced with a rinceau pattern of palmettes, half-palmettes and vine leaves. The main colours are blue, green and brown. The decorative style, colour palette and manufacture all indicate a typical Tunisian ceramic, containing a mix of Andalusian and Ottoman influences.
