National Museum of Qatar
19th century
Cotton
A very rare piece purchased from Sheikh Sa`ud in 2002. This was his personal thawb and he said he found wearing it very relaxing. Called qittan, which means 'cord', the piece is embroidered around the neck up until the ends of sleeves, with silk thread. It also contains silk ball buttons.
