Vanadinite crystals on matrix. Vanadinite is a vanadate mineral with the chemical formula Pb5(VO4)3Cl. This mineral species was named Vanadinite (1839) because it contains vanadium. It belongs to the Apatite group of phosphates. Crystals of vanadinite conform to the hexagonal system of symmetry. These Vanadinite crystals are short prismatic, with smooth faces and sharp hedges. Their colour is orange-red and they are nearly opaque. And they present an intense resinous lustre. Vanadinite occurs as a secondary mineral in the oxidized zone of lead-bearing deposits and it is one of the main industrial ores of the element vanadium. This sample has been collected at Mibladen Mine, Midelt, Khénifra Province, Morocco.
