Description:

This exquisite article called a chaprag shows the exceptional skill and inventiveness of the unknown goldsmith, who makes each piece of jewellery a virtual work of art in itself. The chaprag is a breast ornament consisting of a round plate and tiny chains. It is executed in filigree technique and adorned with decorative stones. Besides its decorative function, it was applied for the purpose of fastening the cleavage of the tunic. It was characteristic of the Ohrid-Prespa region, that is, the areas of Ohridsko Pole, Strushko Pole and Debarski Drimkol.
