Gorni Polog
There used to be around fifty diverse styles of folk costumes worn in different ethnic areas throughout Macedonia in the 19th century and in the early 20th century. Among the most prominent were the costumes of Gorni Polog. Unlike the diverse and numerous women’s garments, men’s outfits were much simpler and rather unified. This upper garment called a mintan is of plain cut. It is made of silk in a striped pattern. Its only decorations are pieces of black cloth applied to the sleeves.
