About Museum of Macedonia, Skopje
Late 19th – early 20th century
White canvas, embroidery with variegate threads
v. Tearce
This bridal tunic is abundantly decorated with relief embroidery above the lower hem. The embroidery is very impressive owing to the varied relief techniques applied. It has been created by application of black woollen thread with slight borders in other colours, flat silver string and silver-thread braid. The sleeves are also richly adorned with embroidery in predominantly red nuances. The symbolism of embroidered patterns endow this tunic with universal values distinctive to Macedonian home-made women's attire.
