Description:

These Turkish flintlock pistols were used by the Ottoman soldiers in Lebanon in the 19th century to quash resistance movements. As the Lebanese resistance had no weapons of their own, the fighters frequently ambushed Ottoman soldiers and took their weapons. These pistols are an example of such weaponry, which was taken by the resistance and used against the Ottomans. They have a wooden bulbous butt plate and engraved silver mounts ornamented with coral. They are made of wood and cast steel and have a small, ornamental, engraved silver piece on the wooden grip.
