1890
In June 1890, the Sultan of Morocco sent an Ambassador to Italy (Hagi El Maati el Mazamizi), to meet the Italian King and present him with extremely rich gifts.
The Ambassador – who was escorted by his secretary, an interpreter, and some dignitaries – was received with the highest honours. He met with the Italian Prime Minister and with the King, who offered a gala dinner for him.
The menu for the gala dinner was in French. A military band played different pieces of music during the dinner.
