1870–74 (the Tunisian decoration); 1884–1906 (the Italian decoration)
Two members of the Moreno family, Raffaello (Tunis 1844-1913) and his brother Leone (Tunis, 1852-1940) were awarded honours both by the Italian King (Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Corona d’Italia) and by the Bey of Tunis (Nichan Iftikhar). The Morenos were Jews from Livorno (Italy), who had migrated to Tunisia in the early 19th century.
Other Italians migrants in Tunisia were awarded both the title of Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Corona d’Italia by the Italian King and the title of Nichan Iftikhar by the Bey of Tunis, including Giuseppe Di Vittorio (a Sicilian who ran a construction company) and Luigi Rey (born in Tunis to an immigrant family from a village north of Turin, Piedmont, Italy, who also ran a construction company) and the Jewish Doctor Giacomo Castelnuovo.
