The Marquis of Cerralbo and his family visited Istanbul in 1889, and nowadays the Cerralbo Museum holds an interesting variety of pieces bought and collected as souvenirs from the family trip. When visiting a foreign country or city, being portraited by a famous photographer of studio was indispensable. In this case the photographers are the world-renowned Armenian Abdullah Frères, Photographes de S. M. I. le Sultan. This vignetted bust shot albumen portrait of Inocencia Serrano y Cerver, marquise of Cerralbo, shows the playful and aesthetic use of typical Turkish costume in the Abdullah Frères studio, perfect to satisfy the European desire of exoticism.
