Description:

This painting was made around 1863 when the author travelled to Morocco with Mariano Fortuny. The reason of his travel was to paint the characters and picturesque garments as the way of life of the people from Morocco.
His experiences can be seen in his paintings and drawings.
During his travels he bought exotic artworks as Egyptian sarcophagi.
Harem and markets are considered a genre painting in Orientalism.
