The library at the Musée National des Beaux-Arts holds 9,000 works on the history of universal art, resting on shelves designed by the Artist Louis Fernez (1900–1984). The 19th century collection contains a series of books on the history of Algeria, including three volumes from the Journal de Eugène Delacroix, written during his time in Oran and Algiers in 1832, as well as two books by Fromentin.
