History:

Krushevo houses had to be adjusted to the naturally steep terrain on which they sit. The dwelling architecture of this town thus shows notable vertical development, which has given rise to creative architectural solutions for the purpose of maximum use of space.

Description:

The architecture of Krushevo was influenced by houses in Moscopole, as well as by the mountain dwellings in Epirus and Thessaly. Native architects, Vlachs originating from Moscopole and Miyaks from the Reka Area, created their distinctive and highly autonomous dwelling architecture which combined the traditional mode of building with architectural solutions arising from the steep terrain. This house is a three-storied structure of symmetrical type. The ground floor is made of stone and mortar. Upper stories were built of wooden framing and adobe, covered with plaster. The dynamic rhythm of the front façade has been achieved by the repetitive layout of windows and balconies above the front door at the second and third storey. The decoration is enhanced by the intricate wooden and iron balcony balusters on the second and third storey.
