Beirut Evangelical School for Girls and Boys
Beirut, Lebanon
1835
The Beirut Evangelical School for Girls and Boys is one of the oldest educational institutions in Lebanon, first founded in 1835. It has its roots in the first school for girls founded in west Beirut in 1828 by the early American Presbyterian missionaries to Greater Syria. In 1959, the Presbyterian Church in the USA transferred to the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon and who henceforth were responsible for the running of all the educational institutions in the area that had been founded by American Presbyterian missionaries.
Beirut Evangelical School is located in Rabiye, a wealthy area in Metn, Mount Lebanon. The school covers all levels from nursery, to elementary, intermediate and secondary schooling. It consists of two large buildings that house all the school's classes, laboratories, offices and administration, as well as a church and the administrative Synod Building of Syria and Lebanon. The facades are covered in a yellow and blue coating.
