The Tell Clock Tower
Al-Tell Square, Tripoli, Lebanon
1906
This clock tower was gifted to the city of Tripoli - like many clock towers of the Ottoman Empire, such as the famous Jaffa clock tower - and erected in 1906, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Sultan 'Abd al-Hamid II's reign. The clock tower is now working again, following a full renovation in 1992, supported by personal funding from the honorary Turkish consul of Northern Lebanon, Sobhi Akkari.
This clock tower is located in Al-Tell square, next to Al-Manshiyya, one of the oldest parks in Tripoli. The tower is 30 metres tall and consists of five separate floors.
