Description:

One of the world's largest photo archives, Abdülhamid II's photo archives – knows as the Yildiz Albums – contain about 37 thousand pictures from that period of the Ottoman Empire. The photo archives contain images of cities, buildings which were built by sultan, schools, students, soldiers, mosques, ports, government departments, shipyards, railways, bridges, bazaars, machines, locomotives and factories. Darülaceze Hospital was established in Okmeydanı, Istanbul İn 1895 on the instructions of Abdülhamid II for the care of elderly, homeless and disabled people in need.
