This drawing of the temples and fountains of Zaghwan was drawn by Sir Grenville Temple in the mid-19th century. The triumphal arc and the nymphaeum are carved with two important tales from the city's ancient history. This water temple, located at the feet of Mount Zaghwan, contains a 30 metre long semicircle nymphaeum, bordered on the inside by arched galleries fitted with various niches. At its feet lies a pool, flowing with water which is then carried all the way to Carthage.
Copied from a drawinig by Sir Grenville Temple, published in his book The Shores and Islands of the Mediterranean in London in 1840, this drawing was taken from Chelli Zouhir, La Tunisie au Rythme des Estampes du XVe au XIXe siecle (Tunis, ed. Tunis Carthage: 1992), p. 65, fig. 25.
