About National Museum of Romanian History, Bucharest
Beginning of the 19th century
This is a map of Moldavia and Wallachia dating from after 1812, when following the Russian-Ottoman war of 1806-1812 Russia annexed the Eastern part of Moldavia, thereafter called Bessarabia (which used to be the name by which southern Moldavia was known). The red line marks the new border that the peace treaty of Bucharest (1812) established between the Ottoman Empire and Russia. The light blue line marks the border between Moldavia and Wallachia, the yellow one that between Austria and the Ottoman Empire and the thick blue line represents the border between Bulgaria and Wallachia. The green line marks the frontiers of the Ottoman Empire.
