Description:

Pictured here is the Nazareth School, founded in 1868 by Mother Pauline de Vaux, Superior General of the Congregation of the Ladies of Nazareth. The decision to found this school was supported by the Bishop Vallegra, in Rome. It was first located in a large house in the European quarter of Beirut, nicknamed "The Blue Castle". However, with the number of students rapidly growing, the school had to relocate. In 1877 the new convent was opened for this purpose on St. George Hill, bought by the firman of Constantinople. The building is U-shaped and made of stone, with white cloisters and surrounded by a huge garden.
