Eastern Jordan (al-Azraq), al-Druz tribes
Skirt of light pink lace with black flowers, pursed from the middle, worn over a woman’s dress. This object illustrates the variegated population composition of Jordan in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the various local costumes and rites, fashion and personal attire. This skirt was used by al-Druze women in Jordan. The al-Druze tribes migrated from Syria (Hawran) to north east Jordan in the early twentieth century because of their support for the Syrian revolution against the French occupation.
