Description:

Colonel Le Clerc organized an ethnographic gallery inside his own museum of artillery for the International Exhibition of Paris in 1878. He arranged 72 examples of warriors coming from almost every part of the world in a three-room exhibit. These characters were modelled from actual examples and resembled Arabic, Australian, African and Indian people with costumes and features. The exhibition paid great attention to facial renderings and the physical appearance of the warriors.
