This series of postcards shows the reconstruction of a representative area of the city of Cairo in Milan for the Universal Exhibition of 1906. The Exposition was organised on the occasion of the opening of the Simplon Tunnel in 1906 and covered a space of over a million of square meters. One-third of the area was filled with pavilions designed by famous Italian architects. The exhibition cost was over twelve million lire. The event drew the attention of over five million spectators and the participation of 35 thousand exhibitors.
