This English nurse symbolises the actions of the International Committee of the Red Cross, whose humanitarian mission is to protect the life and dignity of the victims of armed conflict and other forms of violence, and to bring them aid. Founded in 1863, the Red Cross won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1917.
