Dedicated to the citizens of Paris
National Library of France
The revolutions of the first half of the 19th century are strongly associated with barricades, usually a pile up of furniture and other objects across streets, aimed at slowing down army troops. There were almost 4,000 barricades in Paris during the revolution of 1830.
