Description:

The Arab Room shows the collections of the Marquis coming not only from Arabia but also from China, Japan, the Philippines, Turkey, Morocco and New Zealand. He collected and displayed these works, similar to other European palaces of the 19th Century, because his taste ran to oriental, exotic, foreign or ancestral cultures. This room was also known as fumoir, associated with smoking, essentially thought for masculine use. The ceiling is decorated with interlacing designs and six-pointed star in the middle, from which hangs a superb Arab lamp. There are kilims on the walls and carpets on the floor and furniture. Among all, we can also find arms and armouries, musical instruments and six scale-model reproducing walls and windows from some rooms of the Alhambra palace.
