Photographic print that is part of an album of different Istanbul images taken by the studio of the three Armenian brothers who, in 1880, opened a headquarters in this city. It shows the central nave of the Mosque of Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya Camii), under the main dome, facing the Eastern apse where the altar has been replaced by a mihrab. On the left, in the transept, the pavilion for the sultan's personal prayer. A group of men are sitting on the ground, on carpets that cover the entire surface, listening attentively. This kind of album had great success with 19th century European travellers.
