Description:

Historical fans were popular accessories in the second half of the 19th century, especially those commemorating important public events such as North Africans wars. These everyday objects as fans would serve as tools to disseminate political or social ideas. The employment of lithography applied to the leaf tells us of the propaganda use of the engraving and its application to the decorative arts. This fan is an example of it, because it shows the Spanish army helping the people from the villages in Spanish territory of North Africa (Morocco).
