Ali Bey, a pseudonym used by Domingo Badia (1767–1818), was a Spanish explorer and spy. He travelled to the Ottoman Empire and North Africa under the identity of a Syrian prince. He published his experiences in different books. His travel descriptions had success in Europe and were translated into several languages. The descriptions reveal his admiration and respect for the Arab world.
