1878

Description:

The 1878 Treaty of Berlin put the two Ottoman provinces of Bosnia and Herzegovina under the administration of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Between the 20th of July and the 29th of October 1878, the Austro-Hungarian Empire led a military campaign in those two provinces in order to establish its administration. During this armed conflict, several objects were taken, like a 16mm flintlock pistol with an Oriental-style snaphaunce lock (miquelet lock) entirely wrought from iron and richly decorated, showing as high a quality of craftsmanship as the accompanying gunpowder pourers, ramrods and bullet pouches.
