Description:

South Arabia (Yemen) has always been famous for its incense. The cultivation and widespread trade of this desirable product turned Yemen into a very important region with a highly autonomous culture. This kind of head, sculpted on tombstones, portrayed the subject partly as abstract idealization and yet in a very naturalistic way.
